FAQ
Direct Cremations FAQ – Wirral Direct Cremations
A direct cremation is a simple, respectful and affordable cremation that takes place without a traditional funeral service, ceremony or mourners present. Your loved one is cremated with dignity and the ashes are either returned to you or scattered at the crematorium — allowing you to hold a personal memorial service when the time is right if required.
Many families choose direct cremation for:
- Affordability - Significantly lower costs than a traditional funeral.
- Simplicity - No formal service or procession required.
- Flexibility - Hold a memorial service where and when it suits you.
- Privacy - Ideal for those who prefer a quiet, personal goodbye.
Wirral Direct Cremations offers clear, all-inclusive pricing with no hidden fees. Please call us or visit our website for current pricing.

Direct cremations don’t typically include a viewing, but we may be able to arrange a private visit for an additional fee. Please ask us during your initial meeting.
You have several options:
- Receive the ashes in a simple container
- Have them scattered at the crematorium
- Scatter them in a meaningful location (with permission)
- Inter them in a memorial site or garden
- We’re happy to guide you through your choices.
We aim to carry out cremations within 10–14 days of bringing your loved one into our care. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process.
Absolutely. Many families choose to organise a personal farewell or celebration of life at a time and place that feels right for them. This allows for a meaningful tribute without the formality or pressure of a traditional funeral.
If you would prefer a more structured farewell, we also offer the option to hold a simple service in our beautiful in-house chapel. It’s a calm, respectful space for close family and friends to gather before or after the cremation.
Use of the chapel is available for an additional fee of £200, which includes a private 30-minute time slot, seating for up to 50 guests, and guidance from our team to help you create a personal and heartfelt ceremony.
Please contact us to discuss availability and how we can support you in planning a fitting tribute.
